Yesterday at 4:14 pm, Lincoln Police responded to a report of a disturbance at the Walgreens located near 17th & South Street. Upon arrival, officers contacted 31-year-old Ray Q. Burns, who was causing a disturbance at the pharmacy counter.
Burns jumped over the counter entering an employee area of the store, at which point officers attempted to take him into custody.
Burns resisted the officers by ripping his arms away and hitting an officer in the head, which caused a laceration that required four staples at a local hospital to close. Another officer suffered abrasions, bruising, and swelling of an arm due to the fight.
Burns was eventually taken into custody and charged with two counts of Assault on a Police Officer, and Resisting Arrest. He was not injured.
