Yesterday just after 6 pm, Lincoln Police were called to the intersection of 27th & Y streets on a report of a person who had been shot.
According to LPD, once officers arrived they found a 31-year-old male covered in blood and unresponsive in a vehicle, just west of the intersection. Officers pulled the male from the vehicle and started CPR.
Lincoln Fire & Rescue arrived shortly after, taking over life-saving measures. The victim was transported to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators learned through witness statements and video evidence that a grey car had pulled up to the victim’s vehicle. The driver produced and fired a handgun, striking the victim. After the shooting occured, the grey car fled the scene.
About four hours after the shooting, 18-year-old Tony Bush Jr. turned himself into the Lancaster County Jail, identifying himself as the shooter. Bush Jr. indicated that the handgun was disposed of in a bush nearby the scene, but it has not been found.
Bush Jr. was arrested for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
