In a press release this morning, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said deputies will conduct a “safety checkpoint” to systematically check drivers for alcohol usage.
The checkpoint, beginning at 9 pm tonight, will be located just west of 98th & Highway 6. Deputies will be highly visible and are expected to be out until around 2 am.
Additionally, LSO will send more deputies out to the streets of Lancaster County on Saturday and Sunday. These efforts are all part of the nationwide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. All deputies working overtime will be paid through a mini-grant, funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
